With the rapid advancement of technology, Generative Artificial Intelligence (Generative AI) has profoundly impacted the fields of digital humanities research and artistic creation. As tools such as ChatGPT gain widespread use, research methodologies in the humanities and modes of artistic production are undergoing unprecedented transformations and challenges.
To foster academic dialogue, exchange, and collaboration in this emerging field, the Digital Humanities and AI Art Potential International Research Group, NSYSU, in collaboration with College of Liberal Arts and Department of Chinese Literature, Global Co-Becoming and International Sinology Research Center, and MOE University Social Responsibility (USR) Project "Transitions towards Sustainability and Revitalization: The Glocalization Practice of the City as a Commuseum," will host the 2025 International Conference on Digital Humanities and AI Art.
This conference invites scholars from Taiwan and abroad to share their innovative insights, critical reflections, and research outcomes on digital humanities and AI art. Discussions will center on the following themes:
1. Challenges and Transformations in the Humanities under Generative AI
Exploring applications of Generative AI in education and academic research, and examining its profound impact on traditional humanities methodologies and knowledge production.
2. Innovation and Technological Integration in Digital Humanities
Investigating the potential of Generative AI in digital humanities and artistic creation, including AI-assisted writing, stylistic analysis, and the integration of technologies such as the metaverse and blockchain—envisioning the future landscape of technological practices.
3. AI Ethics and Humanistic Reflections
Addressing the ethical challenges of Generative AI in literary and artistic industries and education, such as copyright, cultural appropriation, and identity representations of the "Other." This session also reflects on the role and mission of the humanities in the development of AI technologies.
4. AI Art Creation and Stylistic Studies
Examining the stylistic transformations and aesthetic reconstructions brought about by Generative AI in art, focusing on innovative applications of digital and AI technologies in creative practices and on the challenges automation poses to artistic originality and cultural cognition.
5. Reconstructing Research Methods in Digital Humanities
Observing how Generative AI drives methodological innovation in digital humanities—especially in textual analysis, semantic mining, and cultural modeling—and exploring possibilities for interdisciplinary collaboration.
Through this conference, we hope to deepen understanding of this emerging field and open new horizons for interdisciplinary integration and innovative research between digital technology and the humanities and arts. The event also aims to enhance the international visibility and academic influence of Taiwan and National Sun Yat-sen University in the fields of digital humanities and AI art, realizing a future vision of "Humanistic Foundation, Technological Innovation, Artistic Realization, and International Exchange."
We sincerely thank all participating scholars from the humanities and arts, both domestic and international, for their support and engagement.
We warmly welcome scholars, colleagues, and students to join the 2025 International Conference on Digital Humanities and AI Art!
